Well, everyone seems to like the new theme…I will keep it for now. lol  I am so glad the weekend is almost here! (and cooler temps down here in GA)  Fall time is my favorite time of year! Great coffee drinking weather!

I have been working on getting my articles into pdf format.  I have done this before, but I am having a little difficulty getting it done this time.  I am going to work on that and more over the weekend.  I have changed how I am doing things here at donna-scott.com.  Hopefully you will love the changes.  Their will be changes to the newsletter too.  I will talk about that later.  jut know I will be posting more here.  You can also visit me at www.donnamariescott.blogspot.com and get to know me a little bit better.  I also have a homeschooling blog all about our homeschool adventures at www.homeschoolhappiness.com.

Well, I did it!  I finally fixed this website!  Thanks to Jon Berry at GOT hosting! So, if you came by here the last couple of days you didn’t see anything!!  My mistake.  I am still learning all this stuff ya know!

A friend of mine, Stephen Beck, has pulled together several great resources to help families start an online business.  I was so excited when I found this great set of resources I know I can use.

Oprah Winfrey is airing a segment on her show about domestic violence and it’s effect on the children involved. A very important subject for all. This topic is very close to my heart. If you think this sort of thing does not happen in certain circles…your wrong. I know. It happened to me.

Please watch this show. There needs to be awareness on this subject. There is a great stigma associated with women who are abused, which is why they often keep this a deadly secret. They are often scared, alone, and ashamed.

The show airs tomorrow 1/3/08 at 4pm est. on ABC. Or you can visit oprah.com. Then come here and share your views and reactions to the show with me. I would love to hear from you. Informing and protecting women and children in abusive situations is my passion, my goal and the real reason I started this website and newsletter. I want to write to help women fulfill their God given purpose in life, in all areas. God has a purpose and love for all his children.

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends.  I know I did. I have a lot to be thankful for, my family, my husband who works so hard for us, freedom, health, home…I could go on and on.  I am also very thankful for my online friends, who have been with me through thick and thin and have encouraged me all along the way.  Thank you!  I pray you have many blessing also to be thankful for.

Happy Halloween!

This is the last day of October! Hard to believe, Soon we will be in the holiday season! But, we won’t talk about that today! Autumn is my favorite season of all, and October is my favorite month, so I hate to see it end. October is also an important month.

October was:

• Fire prevention month

• Breast Cancer awareness month

• Domestic Violence awareness month

Quite a busy month! But, all of these topics are of importance to us and our families, so I felt it important to address them here.

1. Fire prevention- If you haven’t already, check all your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that they are working properly, and insert new batteries. Go over your family’s fire emergency escape plan. If you do not have one, make one. Make sure to include a central meeting place outside for everyone to meet. 2. Breast Cancer awareness- This is an important topic for all women. Help support the cause and a search for a cure any way you can, and more importantly do a self breast exam every month! Do it on your birth date, like for instance my birthday is January 11^th, so each month on the 11^th I do my self breast exam. Helps you to remember to do it. 3. Domestic violence awareness- Many of you know that this is a topic very important to me. Having been in and gone through an abusive marriage myself, I know what other women are going through in these situations, often silently, and my heart goes out to them. Victims are often misunderstood and feel ashamed to even be in that situation. I know I did. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship or marriage, get help. Talk to someone, a pastor, a friend, or a relative. Call a local domestic violence hotline. If you are in danger, call the police. Reach out, and get out! Don’t be another statistic! And most importantly, pray. Reach out to God. He has a plan for you and your life. Trust Him. Many of you have already read my story, and how God delivered me out of my abusive marriage and has blessed me abundantly! I am so blessed and happy now. I have the family I always wanted and prayed for. It is possible to be happy again. This can happen for you too.
