Happy Halloween!

This is the last day of October! Hard to believe, Soon we will be in the holiday season! But, we won’t talk about that today! Autumn is my favorite season of all, and October is my favorite month, so I hate to see it end. October is also an important month.

October was:

  • Fire prevention month

  • Breast Cancer awareness month

  • Domestic Violence awareness month

Quite a busy month! But, all of these topics are of importance to us and our families, so I felt it important to address them here.

  1. Fire prevention- If you haven’t already, check all your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that they are working properly, and insert new batteries. Go over your family’s fire emergency escape plan. If you do not have one, make one. Make sure to include a central meeting place outside for everyone to meet. You can visit these sites for more fire safety info. http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/kids/flash.shtm http://www.befiresmart.com/?src=s=gglk=fire%20safetyC=FireSafety_NationalG=BeFireSmart_Fire_Safety_ExactM=Exact

  1. Breast Cancer awareness- This is an important topic for all women. Help support the cause and a search for a cure any way you can, and more importantly do a self breast exam every month! Do it on your birth date, like for instance my birthday is January 11th, so each month on the 11th I do my self breast exam. Helps you to remember to do it. You can find more tips and info here. http://nbcam.org/ http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/about-breast-cancer/breast-cancer-symptoms/?hct=googlePPC_About&gclid=CLvBiaPuuY8CFQQjPAodbg71dg Be aware and stay healthy!

  1. Domestic violence awareness- Many of you know that this is a topic very important to me. Having been in and gone through an abusive marriage myself, I know what other women are going through in these situations, often silently, and my heart goes out to them. Victims are often misunderstood and feel ashamed to even be in that situation. I know I did. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship or marriage, get help. Talk to someone, a pastor, a friend, or a relative. Call a local domestic violence hotline. If you are in danger, call the police. Reach out, and get out! Don’t be another statistic! And most importantly, pray. Reach out to God. He has a plan for you and your life. Trust Him. Many of you have already read my story, and how God delivered me out of my abusive marriage and has blessed me abundantly! I am so blessed and happy now. I have the family I always wanted and prayed for. It is possible to be happy again. This can happen for you too.

Here are some resources.

It is my hope to encourage you my friends. May you and your family dwell in the blessings of God.

New Beginnings

Honestly, with the news about my daughters I was in shock, and yes depression.  Which I found a bit ironic since that is what I have been writing about.  But, I just stopped everything.  I needed some time to come to terms with things.  I apologize for the newsletter not going out as usual.  Thank you so much for being faithful and for you prayers. They are needed and appreciated.  I am back on track now, and am writing again.  I am excited to see what God has in store for us!

It is a time of new beginnings!  Summer is coming to an end and fall is fast upon us! (at least I hope) With everything that has been happening here at the Scott household it is time to move on ahead!  We have not one, but two precious little babies on the way!  Carey’s baby boy is scheduled to be delivered by C-section on November 16th! So with that and the holidays, we will be very busy!  Then Amanda’s baby (which we hope is a girl since C.J. is having a boy) will be due March 26th! Just two days after mine and Bruce’s anniversary!  Since Amanda lives here at home with us, we are busy preparing for her baby.

We are busy with homeschooling too!  Our schedule is working but changing as we add more activities.  My children are participating in a homeschool program at the YMCA this year.  So, far it is great!  And mom gets to workout too!  I know that at one time Brenda had asked about what curriculum we are using.  Sorry, I havent posted a response sooner. We use a lot of different ‘curriculums’  We are doing a unit study on American History that covers everything but math.  The kids also do an online program at www.time4learning.com It is a good curriculum too. Plus the program at the Y.  Their math is from Rod and Staff publishing.  I hope to post more about homeschooling soon.

That is my update for now dear friends.  Be looking for the newsletter soon in your inboxes.  I hope you won’t be disappointed in all I have planned for it. I am excited and I think you will enjoy it.

God Bless!

Hello Friends!

I hope you enjoy this week’s newsletter.  I am still not satisfied with the templates.  I added a recipe in this newsletter that I wanted to share with you.  The kids will love it.

My first E-book is almost complete and I am excited about it!  I am going to give my subscribers a sneak peak in the next newsletter.  So watch your inboxes!

My husband is getting his ministry going now.  Sometimes it is scary to obey God’s call on your life, but we are stepping out in faith that this is God’s plan for us and He will provide the means to accomplish it. Visit my husband’s site for details of God’s call on our life and ministry. www.Brucescottministries.com

God Bless you all!

Family

Family relationships have been on my mind, and is the upcoming topic of my newsletter for the next few weeks.  Families are important to God.  He cares for you and your family.  In today’s world families have it hard, especially the traditional Christian families.  Satan is definitely out to steal, kill, and destroy the family.  We must pray for protection for not only our own families, but for all the families out in the world trying to make it work.  I pray for your family tonight, for peace, health, and a close relationship with our Heavenly Father.

God Bless!

Hello Friends!

As I have been writing about marriage in the newsletter, I have had marriage, and family relationships on my mind.  I find it ironic that today as I typed up the newsletter that me and my husband would have an argument.  There will be disagreements in every marriage from time to time.  I can’t really say it was an official argument either.  He hurt my feelings and when I pointed it out, he became defensive and even confused as he did not mean to.  It’s  funny now.  I just wanted you my friends and newsletter subscribers to know that I am in no way perfect.  I do not have a perfect marriage (no one does by the way).  But, I write from my heart and experience.  I hope that you will enjoy the newsletter.  This will be the final one on marriage, at least for now.  I want to address family, and family relations in the upcoming newsletters, and even homeschooling as we are planning for the new year.  I hope you all enjoyed Father’s Day and are planning on having and celebrating a wonderful Independence Day.  Make memories and have fun this summer with your family.

Blessings

Hello Friends!

I waited a while before posting to give everyone a chance to put in their opinions.  I was a little disappointed that only two commented back.  Thank you Teresa and Liz H.  I do appreciate you taking the time to tell me your opinions.  But, that is okay, you can still comment or email me with your opinions if you like.  Otherwise, I am going ahead as I have been.  I just didn’t want to inundate my friends with a bunch of unwanted e-mail.

I hope that the latest Friend to Friend newsletter was good for you.  I still don’t like the template…I may have to change that. In case you haven’t noticed I like to play around and change things til I get it just right!  I do that in my home too! Even with the funiture! lol  If all my changes bother you, please tell me.  I value your opinions.

Hello Friends!

I don’t have my usual coffee tonight as I write.  I opted for a root beer float instead.  So, join me for a frosty treat on a hot summer night, and sit a spell.

I am writing tonight to let you know there will be some changes to my site.  Not major changes, but some little tweaks here and there.  Same with the newsletter.  I believe it will just get better and better as we go!  To make it better I would like to poll my subscribed friends.  The way things are set up now, if I add a new post to my site you get it in an email.  Do you like this?  or, would you rather just receive the newsletter?  Please leave me a comment and let me know.

I have several projects underway, and I thought I would clue you in to what I am working on.

-I am writing a book, on marriage.  It started out as an E-book, but I believe it is going to be way too long.

-An E-book on overcoming depression

-A Bible study just for kids

And several articles on homeschooling, homemaking, marriage, and many, many more!!  I will keep you posted.  Thanks so much friends!  You mean so much to me.

Blessings!
